Massai BomaDay Trip Overview

The Massais are the ethnic group of people living in Northern Tanzania and they are the only people allowed to free travel through the border. These people live beside the national parks dressing in a very distinctive way and having different customs.

Masai families live in a traditional bomas which is made of mud, sticks, grass and cowdung. These bomas are spacious and large enough for sleeping and cooking. The most important person is the medicine man, as these healers move between villages providing remedies for the sick and injured.

This authentic culture is now accessible to tourists, as preservation of their proud tradition and culture has set them apart from other groups.

You can witness the ancient lifestyle, learn about the fascinating culture. You can visit them near any National parks to know more about their culture, capture photographs with them.

You can also see wonderful ornaments made of beads by Maasai women’s. It is worn by Maasai people with patterns determined by its age.

You need to pay a minimal entrance fee and it is worth it.

TourItinerary

You will be picked up at your hotel at 0800hrs and transferred to the Olpopongi Maasai Village. It is roughly a 1 and a half hour drive from Moshi town Stop at Olpopongi - Maasai Cultural Village & Museum in Moshi Kilimanjaro Region While at the village you will be given a tour of the village and museum to get a better understanding of Maasai culture and tradition. You will also go on a short walking safari and learn about Maasai hunting techniques and their natural medicines. A traditional lunch will be prepared for you in the afternoon. The tour will take atlist 7 hours. After your tour of the village you will be transferred back to your.
